Hey everyone, I came across some discussions else where about the proposed law in Barbados that could fine property owners up to $250,000 if their rental properties aren’t registered or don’t meet certain standards.

Now, I totally agree that safety and proper standards are important no one wants unsafe or unfair rentals. But I’m wondering if this approach might be a bit too heavy handed, especially for small property owners who are just trying to make a living.

Most of us already follow platform rules from Airbnb, Vrbo, and others keeping our spaces safe, clean, and welcoming for guests. So do we really need another big law with such harsh penalties?

Wouldn’t a simpler, more supportive system maybe something like a low cost registration process or educational outreach work better than fear of a $250K fine?

Hello,

I’m thrilled to welcome you to this vibrant new chapter a heartfelt online community bringing together landlords and tenants across our stunning island of Barbados, all 166 square miles from St. Lucy to Christ Church. There’s something truly special about sharing this beautiful country we call home, and I’m excited to connect with each of you here.

Owning a home is a dream many of us cherish, but for some, it’s not yet within reach. That’s where landlords step in, playing a vital role in our community. Whether you’re renting out a cozy apartment, a bustling commercial space, or anything in between, you’re helping make Barbados a place where everyone can find a home.

As landlords, you provide more than just a roof, you ensure properties are safe, comfortable, and welcoming, with working plumbing, electricity, and solid structures. In return, tenants bring life to these spaces, agreeing to fair rent and terms that create a harmonious partnership. Of course, every agreement is unique, shaped by the mutual understanding between landlord and tenant.

I’m a proud Barbadian, rooted deeply in this island’s beauty and spirit, and I’m here to stay. Nothing warms my heart more than hearing stories of landlords and tenants building lasting, positive relationships. I can’t wait to hear your stories, your successes, your challenges, and the moments that make this journey rewarding.

Got a property to share? Jump into our forum, post your listings, and don’t hold back, vibrant photos and detailed descriptions always catch the eye! Whether it’s a seaside villa, a chattel house or a comfortable room, let’s showcase what makes your space special.

Who’s Part of the Barbados Landlords Association?

If you’re a landlord in this group, you’re automatically a member of the Barbados Landlords Association. But this community isn’t just for landlords, tenants, your voices matter too! Everyone here has a seat at the table, and we want to hear your ideas, experiences, and dreams for making renting in Barbados even better.

Tenants, don’t be shy! Tell us what you’re looking for. Need a 2 or 3-bedroom house for your three children? Or maybe a cozy two-bedroom apartment? Post it here in our community! Your perfect home in our beautiful Barbados is just a post away.

So, let’s get the conversation started. Share your thoughts, your stories, or your vision for this community. Together, we’re building something truly special in our beloved Barbados.

Whether you’re offering short-term or long-term rentals, private or commercial, this is the community designed just for you.

Many property owners have stopped renting due to bad tenant experiences, but this can be easily fixed through better screening and communication.

Benefits for Landlords

Screen tenants on the community forum before handing over the keys.

Tenant and landlord identities can remain anonymous on the forum; personal details can be shared privately when ready.

Keep communication within the forum whenever possible. It provides a clear written record of agreements, questions, and concerns, helpful for resolving disputes fairly.

Upload photos and details of your property to reach more potential tenants.

When you join the Barbados Landlords Association and make your first rental listing, you officially become a valued member of the association, gaining access to our community of trusted landlords across Barbados.

Connect & Build Trust

Landlords can speak openly, share experiences, and discuss concerns with others in the community.

We already have many employed individuals actively seeking long-term rentals but unsure where to look, this forum bridges that gap.
